I remember growing up and hearing that my family came from Ireland but that was about all I knew. I didn't get very involved until
2004 when I heard from my cousin Dan. I was able to find several other cousins that told me
the story of my family as they believed it was and I started looking into my ancestors based on this information. And so their story starts with:
My great, great-grandfather, Alexander Kirkpatrick, born around 1800 in Cork, Ireland, marries Susanne Nimmo, about 1830 in Ireland. They have three children:
After doing a lot of research, the story of my family expanded quite a bit and I found many errors and omissions in the origianl story. The biggest surprise came from my
cousin Dan (a descendent of James Henry Kirkpatrick). He dropped this blockbuster news that my direct descendent, Thomas Kirkpatrick, was born out of wedlock. (it apperas that both parents were
not married to each other). Thomas's death certificate seems to confirm this since his parents are listed as "unknown". This is a huge mysterty that I have been trying to solve ever since I got
the news from Dan.

Note: The marriage cetificate has their names as Alexander Killpatrick & Shusanna Nimo. And that is why it took me so many years to locate.
He marries Jane Ballintine, April 25, 1849, Co Armagh. (Notice one of the witnesses is Alexander Nimo) - Jane's father is John Ballantine, so believe that is how last name is spelled

This next section I still have to prove:
She died Oct 20, 1910 - Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. Married Richard M Mooney in 1855 and was the mother of Alexander Mooney, born about 1856. She is listed at being 83 at death which makes her birth in 1827 but her parents are listed as Alexander Kirkpatrick and Susan Brown. If you look below, you will see that I found two other Alexander Kirkpatrick's born about the same time in the same location Co Mayo, Ireland. I believe that Alexander married a 2nd time to Jane Bole and she might be the mother of Thomas Kirkpatrick, my great grandfather but still trying to confirm that. And as for Susan Brown(e) being Kat's mother, that seems unlikely, since they were married in 1836. But I think it is possible that Alexander divorced Susanna Nimmo and she later remarried to a Browne and they later remarried. Of course, still trying to prove that. Having a hard time contacting the Mooney family.
Mary dies by suicide Aug 4, 1856 in Cleveland, Ohio - This article is a complete surprises to me and first I knew that Mary had married and divorced and left a four or five year old son.I found some records that lead me to believe that Mary's son was named Joseph Kirkpatrick but can't prove that yet.
